Avalanche hits SDM’s vehicle at Sadhna top in north Kashmir

Srinagar: Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Karnah on Tuesday escaped unhurt along with his guard and driver after a snow avalanche hit their vehicle at Sadhna top in the afternoon on way to Kupwara.

Officials told that in this afternoon, vehicle of SDM Karnah Dr Bilal Ahmad along with his driver and security personnel was hit by snow avalanche at Sadhna top and they had a narrow in the incident.

Official said that the SDM had left for Kupwara from Karnah Tangdhar early this afternoon and soon after they reach Sadhna top, a snow avalance hit their vehicle got and buried under the snow.

In the incident, the driver of the vehicle has suffered minor injury while the SDM Dr Bilal Ahmad and his security guard were rescued safely under the snow, the official said.

He also said that the injured driver was given first aid at local Army unit, who initially led the rescue operation to rescue them.

The official furthermore said that police has also reached the spot and are trying to uncover the vehicle dumped under the snow. (KNO)
