Militant thanks Army for giving him opportunity to Surrender

A militant has thanked the Army for giving him the opportunity to surrender during an encounter in south Kashmir’s Shopian district on Friday.

Yesterday four Al-Badr militants were killed while An army commander managed to persuade a local militant to lay down arms.

The encounter ensued between militants and security forces during a joint Cordon and Search Operation (CASO), CO 44 RR Col A K Singh who was leading from the front learnt that all militants are locals. He offered them the opportunity to surrender. However, militants refused and continued firing.

Later, when Col Singh was told that one of the militant Shoaib Ahmad Bhat from Chursoo Awantipora is alive, he immediately again contacted him and urged him to surrender.

Commanding Officer 44 RR Colonel A K Singh went near the site of an encounter to persuade him to surrender.

Colonel A.K.Singh said, “I understand the affection and love for the parents towards their son and I always offer militants to surrender.”

It is pertinent to mention here that, it happens first time ever in shopian that militant surrendered during gunbattle.

In the month of August, He is the second militant who was caught live in an action. A week one militant was apprehended by the same Commanding officer of 44 RR, Colonel A.K.Singh. at Draggad Maldaira area of Shopian.

Reports said that Colonel A.K.Singh tries his best to motivate family members for the return of their mislead children. Colonel even visited homes of most of the active militants of the area and promises every possible help to the families.
