DDC polls in J&K will go with ‘golden words’ in India’s history: Shahnawaz Hussain

Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) National spokesman Shahnawaz Hussain Monday said that the recently concluded District Development Council (DDC) Polls will go with the golden words in the India’s history as there was not “even a single law and order incident anywhere during the entire polling process.”

He said that it was for the first time in the history of elections that there was not even a single law and order incident reported during polling. “Let me announce here that democracy has finally won in J&K after a gap of 70-long years,” Hussain said while addressing media men at a hotel in Srinagar, as per news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO)

He said that the recently concluded DDC polls will go with the golden words in the election history of India. “There was no complaint from any party. We also didn’t complaint,” he said. Hussain, the former Union Minister said that it was for the first time that such a large number of people came to fight polls. “There were long queues outside polling stations every were barring a few places. This signifies that democracy has won in Kashmir,” he said.

He said today’s presser was held to announce that this time BJP will make its difference felt. “Let the DDC poll result come. Whether we would be able to defeat others but one thing I want to make clear is that we will surely defeat Congress in J&K. Congress is a sinking ship across the country,” he said.

He said that three parties contested DDC Polls in J&K—PAGD, which according to him is a “Gupkar Gang”, Congress and the BJP. “We contested on 80 seats and on the remaining 200 we supported independent candidates,” said Hussain, who travelled extensively to almost all the DDC constituencies J&K in the past few weeks as part of campaigning.

He said today late Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajapyee’s dream of Kashmiriyat, Insaniyat and Jamhoriyat has come true as “DDC polls have shown that democracy is the backbone of Kashmiryat and Insaniyat,” said Hussain.

He said in the DDC poll results, voting share of BJP will be up given the feedback he has received from the ground zero. “Gone are the days where our voting share in polls used to be 1.9 or 1.2. You will see a different, let DDC results come,” Hussain asserted.

On when 4-G services will be resorted in J&K, the BJP national spokesman said: “Hopefully, very soon, 4-G will be restored in J&K.”

About ED’s move to attack Rs 11.5 crore worth property of National Conference chief Dr Farooq Abdullah and that NC’s assertions that “it was a political vendetta”,  the BJP leader said: “Agencies are doing their job independently and it’s not good to link them with politics. Corruption has nothing to do with politics and any vendetta. Those facing corruption charges can go to the court and clear their stand there.”—(KNO)
