Candlelight Marches, protests held in Valley over targeted killings

Srinagar: Hundreds of people from all walks of life came out on the streets of Kashmir on Thursday against the killing of two young workers from Punjab, demanding strict action against Pakistan and terror outfits.

Reports reaching News Agency Kashmir Scroll said, candlelight marches were organized in various districts of Kashmir, including north, south, and central Kashmir, to protest against the killings of two young workers from Punjab. The protesters called for an end to violence and advocated for a future marked by peace and justice.

According to reports, participants in the candlelight marches shouted slogans condemning the killing of innocent civilians and expressed solidarity with the victims’ families.

The protesters described these incidents as unfortunate and dark chapters in the history of Kashmir, which cause sadness and distress among the people.

They emphasized the desire of the people to move away from violence and live peacefully with their families, stressing that such incidents should not occur. They highlighted the value and preciousness of human life and emphasized the need to avoid wasting it in this manner.

The demonstrators strongly believed that these acts of violence were deliberate attempts to disrupt peace and impede the progress of development in the region of Kashmir.

On Wednesday evening, Amritpal Singh, a 31-year-old from Amritsar, Punjab, was fatally shot by militants in the Shaheed Gunj area of Srinagar. His colleague, Rohit, 25, sustained serious injuries and later passed away at a tertiary care hospital in Srinagar on Thursday morning. (KS)
