Four drug peddlers arrested in Awantipora, Anantnag: JK Police

Jammu and Kashmir Police on Sunday claimed to have arrested four drug peddlers in two districts of south Kashmir’s Pulwama and Anantnag.

Police said that they have also recovered contraband substances from their possession.

Police said that they established a checkpoint near Frestabal area of Pampore and intercepted a vehicle (Ertiga) bearing registration number JK13C-3044 with three persons on board.

“We have arrested all the three and have been identified as Khalil Ahmad Choudhary son of Mohd Sharif resident of Rajouri, Hassan Mohd Bajran son of Fakeer Mohd resident of Rajouri Bagla and Abdul Gani Mir son of Abli Mir resident of Frestabal Pampore,” police in a press statement said.

Police said that five kilograms of grinded cannabis have been recovered from their possession.

“The accused have been arrested and shifted to police state Pampore. The vehicle used in the commission of crime has also been seized,” police said.

Police said that similarly in Anantnag, on specific information a person namely Azad Ali Khan son of Gull Ali Khan resident of Wantrag Kehirabal indulged in drug peddling and hoarded a large quantity of narcotic substances in his residential house.

“A Police party of PS Mattan alongwith Executive Magistrate concerned raided the said location and officers were able to recover 16Kgs of Poppy straw and 47 bottles of illicit liquor from the said house,” police said.

Police said that the accused person was arrested and shifted to Police Station where he remains in custody.

Police said that cases under relevant sections of law stands registered at respective police stations and investigation have been taken up.
