Srinagar police arrests three persons in ‘sextortion’ case

Srinagar police on Wednesday arrested three accused involved in sextortion, the police said.

In a statement, the police said: “On 27-09-2022, one Nazir Ahmad Rather S/o Late Gh. Nabi Rather R/o Dalwan Chaar-e-Shareef, Budgam lodged a written complaint in Police Station Shergarhi to the effect that some days back, he received a call from one Saba (lady) and insisted him to meet for some work.”

”Accordingly, he met her near Bakshi Stadium Srinagar. The said lady took him to her room at Reck Chowk Batamaloo and started levelling false allegations against him inside the room. In the meantime 03 other men (associates of the lady) forcibly entered the room and started making video. Then she along with her accomplices started blackmailing him and he fell prey into a well planned conspiracy of sextortion,” it further read.

In this regard a case FIR No. 76/2022 U/S 34, 384, 120-B, 506 IPC was registered in Police Station Shergarhi and investigation was set into motion.

Three (03) accused namely:
1. Shaista Bashir @ Saba D/O Bashir Ahmad Dar
W/O Aijaz Ahmad Ganaie R/O Galwan pora A/P Narkara Budgam
2. Jahangir Ahmad Dar S/o Khazer Muhammad Dar R/O Pethpohru Handwara
3. Aijaz Ahmad Ganaie S/O Ghulam Muhammad R/O Galwan pora Hyderpora A/P Narkara Budgam have been arrested in the instant case.

There are some other victims of this gang and more arrests are also expected in the instant case and investigation is going on, it read. (KNS)
