Coronavirus: All examinations postponed

Srinagar: In view of coronavirus scare, the authorities in Kashmir University (KU) have postponed all undergraduate and postgraduate exams till March 31.

An official said the fresh dates of all deferred exams will be notified later separately.

Meanwhile, Central University of Kashmir (CUK) has also postponed all the examination with immediate effect. “There shall be no examination from  Thursday till further orders.

Meanwhile, JK Board of School Education (BOSE) has also postponed private 10th and 12th class examination till March 31. “The fresh date sheet will be notif separately,” an official said.

An official said that the decision to postpone all exams has been taken in wake of the decision by district administration Srinagar to impose restrictions on the movement of public transport and assembly of people.

Earlier, the Ministry of Human Resource Development also directed the CBSE and all educational institutions in the country to postpone exams till March 31 in view of the coronavirus outbreak.

“While maintenance of academic calendar and exam schedule is important, equally important is safety and security of students who are appearing in various examinations as also of their teachers and parents,” HRD secretary Amit Khare said in official communication.

“All the ongoing examinations, including CBSE (Central Board of Secondary Education)board exams, be postponed till March 31 and rescheduled thereafter,” he said.
