Srinagar: An encounter broke out between militants and the government forces in Reben area of south Kashmir’s Shopian district on Sunday.
Reports said the gunfight broke out after a joint team of army, Jammu and Kashmir police and CRPF launched a cordon and search operation in Reben village of the district.
They said the hiding militants, opened fire on the forces when they were challenged, triggering a heavy exchange of fire.
