Covid 2nd wave: J-K reports 4650 cases, 37 deaths in last 24 hours

Jammu and Kashmir reported 4650 covid-19 cases, highest ever single day count of infections so far ever since the pandemic started last year, while 37 more people succumbed to the virus in the last 24 hours, officials said on Tuesday.

They said 1463 of these cases were reported from Jammu division and 3178 in Kashmir Valley, taking overall tally 191869.

Providing district-wise details, the officials told GNS that Srinagar reported 1311 cases, Baramulla 352, Budgam 386, Pulwama 240, Kupwara 96, Anantnag 417, Bandipora 107, Ganderbal 31, Kulgam 162, Shopian 85, Jammu 598, Udhampur 220, Rajouri 205, Doda 81, Kathua 134, Samba 50, Kishtwar 15, Poonch 72, Ramban 49 and Reasi 39.

Regarding the fresh deaths, they said, 25 were reported in Jammu division and 12 deaths in Kashmir, taking the total fatality count to 2458. Also, 1878 patients –631 from Jammu and 1247 from Kashmir –recovered in the last 24 hour. There are 37302 active positive cases in the J-K, they added. (GNS)
