Suicide note reads, ‘I am afraid, I may have Corona’, No evidence he was infected with virus, Let’s wait for final report, says CRPF spokesman

Srinagar: A Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) sub-inspector on Tuesday shot himself with his service rifle in Mattan area of South Kashmir’s Anantnag district.

Identified as Fatah Singh, son of Eidan Singh, a resident of Jaisalmer in Rajasthan, he had left behind a suicide note that read: “I am afraid, I may have corona.” Officials told that Singh was posted with the 49th battalion of CRPF at Akura, Mattan in Anantnag district.

They added that soon after Singh fired at himself, his colleagues rushed to the spot and found him in a pool of blood. “They rushed him to the nearby hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead.”

A police official told they found a suicide note near the body of Singh that read: “No one should touch my body, I am afraid, I have corona.” A case has been registered and further investigation was taken up in this regard.

Station House Officer (SHO), Mattan police station, Jazib Ahmed, said that they have followed the COVID-19 protocol while dealing with the CRPF sub-inspector. “His samples have been taken and post mortem conducted. Only results would confirm whether he was a COVID-19 positive,” he said.

CRPF spokesman in Srinagar, Pankaj Singh, also confirmed the incident stating that the sub-inspector had returned to his unit after performing day long duty with the Naka party. “As such, there is no evidence that he had caught Covid virus. Let’s wait for the final report. Details will be shared with the media,” Singh said—(KNO)
