J&K Police books 18 persons for ‘rioting with deadly weapons’ in Baramulla

Jammu and Kashmir Police on Monday claimed to have booked eighteen people for unlawful assembly ‘rioting’ with deadly weapons, causing hurt, loss of property and attempt to murder during a scuffle between two group’s of Shia community in Kripalpora Hanjiwera area of district Baramulla.

“On March 17 near about one dozen of people were injured during a scuffle between two groups of Shai community over fencing of Ziyarat in Kripalpora village of Pattan,” Police said.

Police said that heavy contingent of security forces were deployed in the area along with magistrate to maintain peace in the area.

“Pattan police booked eighteen persons from both sides and cases under FIR No 83 and 84 of 2022 under section 147, 148, 354, 307, 427, and 323 of Indian Penal Code (IPC) have been registered against them and investigation has been initiated,” police said. (CNS)
