Kashmir schools to launch ‘Green J&K’ drive with Forest Deptt

Srinagar: Director School Education Kashmir has asked the heads of all educational institutions of Kashmir division to submit their requisition before concerned divisional forest officers for collection of saplings to carry out afforestation drive under Green J&K Drive.

In an order, a copy of which lies with the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), director school education Kashmir, Mohammad Younis Malik said that forest department along-with other line departments is conducting Green J&K Drive with the involvement of various departments including School Education.

The order states that in this regard, DFOs/District Officers of Forest and allied Departments are providing Saplings for the Green Drive free of cost.

“The Heads of all the Educational Institutions of Kashmir Division are accordingly placed under strict instructions to liaison with their concerned DFOs/District Officers of allied departments to submit the requisitions so as to ensure collection of saplings as per requirement,” the order states.

It states that it is further impressed upon all the Chief Education Officers that information regarding number of plants planted, area covered etc in their respective districts may also be shared along-with good quality photographs/video-clips before March 15, 2021. —(KNO)
