Meet singing sensation Ahtishan Zaid of Kashmir

Ahtishan Zaid hailing from Jammu and Kashmir, who has created a niche in the music industry of Kashmir in a short period, is making humble attempts to be a good musician.

Taking to his musical journey, he said, “I belong to a middle class family and it’s my aim to do something good that will make my family proud. Since childhood I was attracted towards art and culture. I was also good at studies and side by side I continued every kind of sports in my school. But deep inside I was a singer from childhood. During class UKG my class teacher used to call me in front of the class to sing, I remember the song “Beegi palko par by Baabu maan” I used to sing that song to get appreciation from teachers.”

Zaid was reciting Naat-e-Shareef on religious congregation in the masjid and gained praise.

Then he started watching reality singing shows and then adopted a dream of becoming a singing sensation of the country.


“Every parent has a faith in his child to be good in studies that thing made me hide my talent for years and I used to sing only whenever I was all alone.” He said.

“When I cleared my 10th with distinction and somehow I got courage to tell my parents that I want to become a singer.”

After that everything went wrong his family stood against his dream, but he didn’t stop. He saved pocket money, he said.

” Once I saved 1500 rupees and then went for a recording, I recorded the song and uploaded on YouTube but I receive flak as I was not a trained singer. there were lot of mistakes in my singing but again I didn’t stop there, I continue to listen good music and then I recorded a Kashmiri song in year 2017 “YELI JANAAN RELUM” a Sufi Kashmiri song. This time I got a positive response but there were also some mistakes,” he said.

“The main thing I was lacking was family support, I was depressed alot for two years but I believed in myself that I will achieve my parents support one day and the day came when I arecorded the another song “AEM SAQIYAN” and this time I was praised by many and criticized by few and this time I earned the support of my father for the first time,” he said.
The video song got likes of YAWAR ABDAL AND MOHAMMAD MUNEEM.

Few days after the release I was called to the 93.5 red Fm.

Zaid’s videos were were hailed by netizens. After clearing 12th class exams and he released the kashmiri mashup of “DIMYO DILAS X BUMRO BUMRO” and the day song was released internet services was snapped in J&K and the song didn’t reach to the target audience.

Zaid performed at different events organised by production houses.

It was difficult for Zaid to record the song again due to economic constraints after 1.5 years “I saved the money and recorded a song Maari mat yaar and this time I gained the full support of my family was applauded by each and everyone, the song received 10k views on YouTube in 48 hours and also 100k views across the internet in 48hours I was praised for my improvement in singing,” he said.

Recently Zaid released new song “JANAANO BEI WALO” that got 10k views in 2 days and was hailed by netizens because every Kashmiri related the story of my song to themselves,” he said.
