Police, army busts old militant hideout in Rajouri, Pika rifle recovered
Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Police and the army busted a militant hideout during a Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) in Manyal area of Thanamandi, reported a local news agency, Global News Service (GNS).
Senior Superintendent of Police, Rajouri, Chandan Kohli said that following information regarding the suspected presence of an old militant hideout in the area, the police and the army’s 38 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) launched a Cordon and Search Operation in the late last evening.
“The entire area was kept under cordon and in the wee hours of Wednesday morning, searches were launched during which a militant hideout under a portion of dense bushes was busted,” said the SSP.
One Pike Rifle, a Chinese Pistol, a Local Pistol, an AK Magazines, two Pistol Magazines, 168 Pika rounds, 47 AK rounds, four pistol rounds, two UBGL grenades, one Binocular, eight Ammunition belts, one Antenna and one Tape recorder have been recovered from the hideout busted during operation.
“The area is still under searches and SDPO Thanamandi Sajjad Khan alongwith SHO Fareed Ahmed and officers of army’s Rashtriya Rifles are monitoring the operation,” SSP said.
“Pro-active approach of forces and close synergy with all sister agencies is playing its role and nefarious designs of anti social elements are being foiled.” SSP said. (GNS)
