Police arrests 4 drug peddlers in Kulgam

Jammu and Kashmir Police on Wednesday claimed to have arrested four drug peddlers in south Kashmir’s district Kulgam and recovered contraband substances from their possession.

Police said that officers from PS Yaripora under the supervision of DySP PC Hatipora at a checkpoint established at Sunman bridge intercepted a vehicle (Santro) bearing registration number JK03C-6043 with 03 persons on board.

“They have been identified as Sheraz Ahmad Lone resident of Tungduno, Kamaljeet Singh resident of Nowshehra Punjab and Charanjeet Singh resident of Hushyarpur Punjab.” Police said.

Police said that during search, officers were able to recover 16Kgs of Poppy Straw & a grinder from their possession.

“They have been arrested and shifted to police station where they remain in custody. Vehicle used in the commission of crime has also been seized,” police said.

Police said that community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood.

“Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law. Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace,” police said.

Police said that people found indulging in criminal activities shall be dealt as per law.

“Community members are requested to share information regarding the crimes in their neighbourhood with the local police units,” police said.
