4 OGWs arrested in Srinagar: Police
Jammu and Kashmir Police on Wednesday said that the militant organization The Resistance Front (TRF) is active in J-K and four of its Over Ground Workers (OGWs) were arrested in central Kashmir’s district of Srinagar.
As per the police in a press statement, “two TRF active militants Basit Ahmed Dar of Redwani Kulgam and Momin Gulzar of Eidgah Srinagar are using the network of Over Ground Workers in the Kashmir valley for subversive activities.”
“These OGWs are providing logistic support and are harbouring these militant in Kashmir valley,” police said.
“The militant organization is being orchestrated by handlers based in Pakistan.”
Police said that a case under FIR No 10/2022 U/Sections 13,18,38,39 of Unlawful Activities Prevention Act, section 120B of IPC was registered in Police Station Kothibagh.
Police further added that they have apprehended four “hardcore” OGWs related to the case.
The police identified the OGWs as: “Basharat Ahmed Pampori son of Basir Ahmed Pampori resident of Maidanpora, Srinagar; Adil Shafi Bhat son of Mohammad Shafi Bhat resident of Daresh Kadal, Srinagar; Muzamil Fayaz Sofi son of Fayaz Ahmed Sofi resident of Bagh-e-Sundar Payeen Kaksarai, Karan Nagar, Srinagar; and Adil Mushtaq Mir son of Mushtaq Ahmed Mir resident of Bagh-e-Sundar Payeen Maidanporal.”
Police said that it was also found that they had recently provided logistic support to three militants Momin Gulbar, Arif Ahmed Hazar and one foreign militant by providing them shelter and also facilitated them in carrying out attacks in Srinagar city.
Police said that these OGWs were also found to be involved in creating content of the threatening posters issued by TRF time-to-time.
“Through posters these OGWs aimed to threaten government employees, police, armed forces, elected PRls and non-local businessmen and to cause disaffection against the state,” police said.
Police said that further investigation is continuing in the case.
