Forces launch search operation after clothes of abducted soldier found in Shopian orchard

Srinagar: Locals reportedly found some clothes belonging to abducted army soldiers from an orchard in Landoora village of Imamsahab in South Kashmir’s Shopian district. 

Sources told news agency KNT that combined forces including soldiers and SOG personnel rushed to the orchard and found a t-shirt and other stuff belonging to the abducted soldier.  

Sources added that the services of sniffer dogs were pressed into service and the area has been cordoned off. Local sources said that massive searches are underway in the area.  

A police official said that some clothes have been found and facts are being ascertained. Pertinently, on 2 August this month, suspected militants after setting the vehicle of an army soldier on fire abducted him in South Kashmir’s Kulgam district. 

The abducted soldier was later identified as Shakir Manzoor of Jammu Kashmir Light Infantry.  The militants had also set his vehicle bearing registration number JK22B 3960 on fire. (KNT)
