Grenade detected on roadside in Srinagar, destroyed
Srinagar: Government forces on Wednesday morning detected a live hand grenade at Barbershah area of Srinagar city.
Official sources told news agency GNS that the grenade was detected by paramilitary CRPF in the area and Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) was immediately summoned to the spot.
After being detected, the device was later destroyed without causing any damage by the paramilitary troops and the BDS squad of the police, they said.
CRPF spokesman Neeraj Rathore said that the grenade was recovered by domination party of paramilitary forces at around 7:45 am. “The device was later destroyed,” the spokesman said.
Asked how it was recovered, the officer said that there is a possibility that some OGW might have left it on the roadside on seeing the CRPF party.
“There is tremendous pressure on OGWs these days and it is possible that they might have left it. Investigations in this regard are underway,” the officer added. (GNS)
