Shopian: The South Kashmir Sqay Martial Arts Tournament, hosted collaboratively by the Indian Army and the Sqay Martial Association Shopian, concluded with excitement at the Government Higher Secondary School, Shopian.
Participants from Shopian, Kulgam, Anantnag, and Pulwama exhibited exceptional skill, with Jazeba Javid, daughter of Dr. Javid Ahmad and Dr. Aisha Javid, emerging as the overall champion. Hailing from Shadi Mard village, Jaziba belongs to a family deeply rooted in education, with her grandfather, Khawaja Abdul Majeed Majrooh, being a renowned educationalist and esteemed poet of South Kashmir.
In recognition of her outstanding performance, Jaziba received a cash reward and a trophy, symbolizing her excellence in the martial arts arena.
The event showcased intense dedication from martial arts enthusiasts, drawing enthusiasm from both participants and spectators. Shopian district led with an impressive 27 medals, followed by Pulwama with 15, Kulgam with 4, and Anantnag with 2, highlighting the region’s talent and passion for martial arts.
Participants expressed gratitude for such events, emphasizing the importance of sports in providing exposure and motivation for the youth of Kashmir. They highlighted sports as a constructive outlet, steering the community away from negative influences.
